Road-tested!

Scottevest Pack Windbreaker

Scottevest Pack Windbreaker

I don't own an umbrella. I really dislike using them. They are just a major inconvenience to me. So began my search for a lightweight waterproof jacket. I have several other Scottevest items and figured I'd give the Pack Windbreaker a try. As usual I was not disappointed.
The Pack Windbreaker is listed as water resistant which worried me a bit at first as one of the things I wanted to use it for was a rain coat. So I put it on and suck my arm under the kitchen faucet. Dry as a bone. The water just beaded up and ran off the side. It has help off any downpour that I have subjected it to so far. :)

Besides using it as a rain jacket I found that it is wonderful to wear to work on those slightly chilly days and even makes a great wind stopping layer over the top of my Scottevest Cotton Hoodie. The fit is a little snug as an outer layer so if you plan on using it as an outer shell I would recommend a size larger than you would normally get. It does fight a lot closer than any other Scottevest item I have owned.

The pocket layout is wonderful. Plenty of room for all my gadgets and cables. I can even fit my 10.1 inch Motorola Xoom tablet into the large pocket on the left front!

I highly recommend this jacket to anyone needing a light wind/water resistant outer shell or just a light jacket.
As the name suggests it also packs up into a pocket on the back of the jacket. This makes it great to carry to work on a day that it is supposed to rain in the afternoon but not during my morning commute. It even has a little clip when packed so I can clip it to my bag and not even have to carry it.

Now if I could just fine something to replace my aging Tactical 2.0. :D

  1. This is a great windbreaker, it fit great and was light and stopped the wind and rain just like expected. I did have a problem refolding it, but watching the video on YouTube solved the problem.

  2. Purchased this to use in conjunction with a travel vest from the same maker very well constructed, left inner pocket large enough to hold an IPAD (I ordered a XL) as this was intended to be an outer garment that would comfortable fit over a large jacket, lots of pockets of various sizes from the construction it seems to me that this will last several years. One of the best features for me was that the whole wind breaker can collapse into its small back, this pack has loops so that it can be attached to your belt.

  3. I gave this coat to my father, who is an avid traveler, and am happy to say that it quickly became a required member of his 'go bag'. He has a short list of required items that he always takes with himself anytime he is away from the house at least overnight. This coat manages all of his gadgets, documents, etc.

  5. I just returned from a 15-day London/Ireland trip. My new Scottevest was a part of my daily attire. It held so much that I'm sure I looked like Pillsbury Doughboy at times, but it was so very handy. I could stow my tour books, my camera, my extra camera battery, my treasures purchased during the day . . . all with ease. I love this jacket. Thanks so much for asking.

  6. Living in Florida I don't often need a jacket to keep me warm, but it does get chilly during those early morning little league games. It also rains A LOT here. The Pack Windbreaker is perfect in these situations. I can easily throw the folded jacket in a backpack, carry it with me, or attach it to the camp chairs we take to the games. If it does get cold or starts to rain, I got my jacket with me and don't have to run back to the car. Another nice feature is that when the jacket is folded up in its pouch, it makes a great seat cushion on the hard bleachers for those days when you forget your chair.

  7. I volunteer at a zoo, so I'm outside most of the day in the cold, and I needed a good windbreaker that would hold a lot. This is perfect! It fits over my uniform and has more than enough pockets for everything, but still doesn't feel bulky. I love it!

  8. The Scottevest Pack Windbreaker will transform the way you think and interact with your clothing. I wear a SeV item everyday to organize everything I carry. You can pack it all in, your camera, smartphone, tablet, wallet, tickets, keys, water bottle, sunglasses... everything. You can also fold into one of it's pockets and pack it with you using the attached clip. As a tetraplegic and power wheelchair user with limited use of my hands, SeV products are a godsend for me and I was a Scottevest customer BEFORE my spinal cord injury. My SeV gear acts as a totebag and a 'wearable wallet' that keeps me organized everywhere I go. My wife loves her SeV jacket for carrying all those little extras women seem to need. The Pack Windbreaker makes a great outer shell over a fleece jacket or vest. It works especially well with SeV Fleece 7.0 Jacket. You can never have too many pockets to pack!
